Found the Photo Thief

You will have noticed the sudden disappearance of blog photos over the last few months. I start the laborious task of replacing them only for them to vanish again.
Well, I owe an apology to Google, Picasa and whoever else was near to hand to blame because it was my own new phone and my ignorance at setting up my phone. So "Smart phone" but not so smart user!

Hopefully as each photo is reinstated it should stay there this time!

Merry Christmas to all...

Nice Change in The Workshop

Now you wouldn't think this person would be just as happy with dirty nails and spanners in hand, well think again, if you would like help with your car or bike project Charlotte and Eric would be pleased to help.
Charlotte has now joined me, as an equal, in the workshop although I can't guarantee she will look like this!

Engines Of Interest

Excellent performance Talbot 75. Very Innovative and a fiddle, not an easy rebuild.

I spend quite a lot of time working for other companies and see lots of interesting projects. Some I am involved in and some just pass through the workshops.

Some Ongoing Delage DISS Restoration Photos

Much of the following work had been carried out over 20 years ago. Some item have been simply cleaned and fitted, others have had more extensive work, often because of corrosion over the years of storage.
Please note the following photos may not be the original post. all originals had been lost, it is difficult to post in the correct order.  the following are taken from a search of Google images for this Post (Dec 2014)

More to follow.

All Photos Lost

It seems that all of my photos have been lost from the Google Picasa album. It also seems that even the online fixes cannot retrieve them.

I am sorry for this disappointment and will start to rebuild them wherever I can.

"Should have Backed Up". Famous last words of this 21st Century. Pretty fitting for Epitaph really.

Just as a note, for the moment I have found many images on the following, image page should you wish to view to illustrate any articles.

Heroic

Always on the look out for any new entries for this 200hp Darracq, I recently came across this You Tube posting.
I suppose at 51 it would seem to be a bit childish to admire and see people as a bit of a "Hero" figure but I'm going to say it, along with Neil Armstrong, Shackleton and many other childhood heros, Mark Walker is a name that would come to mind for me, not just because of the fantastic way he wrestles this monster but because we also owe him for bringing epic Edwardian motor racing to life, in spirit, engineering skill and in the way the personality of his cars seep through their patinated presence.
Look for Stefan Marjoram here or in Google for the most appropriate way of capturing the essence of these cars.

Ernie Hoover's ride in the Wahoo

I have just stumbled across unlimited Hydroplanes.
Play this on full screen or better still, on to a big flat screen TV, turn up the sound and this is pure escapism!
Discovering these monsters rekindled some very distant memories of watching small Hydroplanes racing near my home on the Glos /Wilts border. I can clearly remember watching power boat racing later but the Hydroplanes would have been in the late '60s I think. I recall being intrigued by the tiny craft bucking it's prone, head first driver as they skidded around the spray drenched turns. Such beauty, combining fantastic mechanisms with the rich wood and copper craftsmanship.
An evocative, potentially tragic, passionate creation.

Look at the Miss Bardahl and the"Arno" Ferrari Hydroplane You Tube posts too.

Tether Cars

Scarlett Rikard wrote an article in her brilliant eclectic and all too short lived "Dirty Magazine" about tether cars. This article caught the eye and imagination of my 12 year old son, Jacob.

Shortly after he was off down to the local carpenter with a shopping list for some Ash or similar sections and how could I say no, the magazine did exactly what it was meant to do "Inspiration and creation".

Jacob had seen a picture of a simple Aero Car sitting on the bench by the side of an older gentleman, the sort of person that you could sit and watch and learn as his interests and spirit overflowed, at home in a workshop full of distracting mechanisms and creations.

By coincidence I had been offered a box of old aero engines shortly before, these along with a couple of engine that I had salvaged from a cousins chuck out pile over forty years ago..... I new they would be usefll someday!

Well between us we have created this rather hurried little car, reflecting slightly my current surge of interest in the American Sprint car racing.

Fitted with Jacob's Scooter wheels and some random trolley rear wheels. A 70's Webra 1.5 Diesel engine, complete with that lovely castor oil smell!

There is a really good website for this sort of thing http://www.onthewire.co.uk/contacts.htm and a particular little uk club The Retro Racing Club, can be found in the contacts page.
